Replacing Old Acurite Wireless Weather Station

I have a Acurite Wireless Weather Forecaster since 2013. The outdoor monitor is dead. The reading of temperature  outdoor is 17 celsius degree, but actually it is only 3 celsius degree. I tried to use new battery, reset the device. Nothing works.  Even the indoor data is correct.

OK, I have to get a new one. One day before Christmas, I bought a new device at Costco.

XBOX One S

Last Christmas, I bought an XBOX One S as a Christmas gift for my son and myself. Why is the gift for two? The reason is we play the games together as partners.

My six years old, Gabriel, like Lego Super Heroes game on XBOX 360. The console I bought about five years ago. Maybe six years ago. I am not sure.

I was planning to buy a new game console. First I compared XBOX and PlayStation.  The decision is still XBOX. It is just because of Microsoft backward compatibility policy. Most of the Xbox 360 games can be played on Xbox One. Even on the Xbox One X, which is called Project Scorpio previously. I still want to play the old games again.

List of compatible titles from Xbox 360

The second decision is to choose one from different editions of Xbox.

There are three editions on the market, including the second-hand store.

Xbox / Xbox One S / Xbox One X

After almost half years research and price tracking. At last, I bought the Xbox One S after Microsoft officially release Xbox One X. There are two Costco warehouses nearby. I went there almost every week for grocery. The price is always lower than those at Walmart or Bestbuy.

The Xbox One S 1TB Gears of War 4 Bundle with two controllers + 3 months of Xbox Live.

$429.07 on Oct. 17, 2017

$399.97 on Oct. 24, 2017

I paid $359 plus tax.

Now I am playing assassin’s creed unity. Gabriel is playing Super Heroes 2

Here is a picture of the back of my Xbox One S.

Just ignore the messy wiring.

There is one thing I have not mentioned above. Why do I choose 1TB but not 500MB? In short, 1TB can hold more games. Now the games have HD or 4K quality images. That means even more spaces they need. And I don’t want to delete games when I have no space for the new game.

D-Link DIR-880L Router

DIR-880L Content

I bought a new Router from Costco two months ago. D-Link DIR-880L Dual Band Router AC1900. It replaced my old DIR-850L.

The most important reason, which makes me decide to buy it, is the price, $99.97. The current market price of it is $159.99 at NCIX or $189.99 at Dell.ca today.

The second important reason is that it is AC1900.

Let me show you the difference between AC1200 and AC1900

AC1200: 300 + 867

AC1900: 600 + 1300

There is a chart compared DIR-850L with DIR-880L side by side.

Important Notice from KFI about Butter Chicken Sauce

I received a letter from KFI, Kataria Foods International.

Costco Wholesale records indicate you may have purchased KFI Butter Chicken Sauce produced by Kataria Foods Inc., between January 2 and June 11, 2015.

It recently came to our attention that the net volume of the product as shown on the label does not accurately reflect the declared volume of product in the jar. The over-declared volume amounted to an overcharge of $0.68 on this product. We are very sorry for this error.

We have taken this issue very seriously and have worked with Costco to correct the problem.

We have also taken measures to ensure future compliance on declared volumens.

Again, we apologize for this error and, as a gesture of our appreciation, we have included a voucher for a free hot dog and soda pop (value of $1.50), which can be redeemed at the food court at your local Costco warehouse. If you prefer, you may return the product to a Costco warehouse for a full refund.

This is the letter form KFI.

Costco Michelin Defender Tire

It is time to change my snow tires to all-season tires. My old, original all-season tires are almost 9 years old. So I choose to buy a new set of four tires.

As a Costco member, I went to Costco Burnaby store tire department. The staff recommend Michelin Defender.

mi_defender_ci2_l

My old tire size is 215/70 R16. He said the Michelin Defender is 225/65 R16. It is OK to install the new set on the old rims.

Oh, there is a rebate $17.50 per tire. So the price is $159.99 per tire.

159.99X4 = $639.96

Installation fee $60

Environment fee $20

Rebates -$70.00

Subtotal = $649.96

Taxes $78.00

Total cost: $727.96

Apple iPod Touch 32 GB (3rd Generation)

Last week, I bought a Apple iPod Touch 8 GB from Costco. I feel the capacity is not the problem for me. So I pick up the 8G version instead of 32G or 64G.
I opened box and charged battery and tried it. It looks good. But it has no mic. I can not use Skype or other Voip program on iPod Touch. Then I did a lot of research to find the difference between 2nd Generation, 3rd Generation and 8G, 32G, 64G edition.
The answer is 8G iPod Touch is 2nd Generation, only 32G and 64G are 3rd Generation iPod Touch.
3rd Generation has more powerful CPU, bigger memory. and has earphone with mic and remote control.
One day later, I went to Costco, return the iPod Touch 8G and bought a iPod Touch 32G about 330 dollars within tax.
It is great. I like iPod Touch. It is a must have for Geek. I am a little bit later to have a new product. I would like to use the 2nd or 3rd generation product, not the first generation. I always think the first one has a lot of chances to have bugs or problems.
