About the Little Black Book

I go to Holy Cross Parish every Saturday. For studying and Sunday Mass.

This Saturday, I saw a pile of black books on the desk. These are the little black book.

Six-minute meditations on the Sunday Gospels of Lent (Cycle A)

It is based on donations. I put a toonie into the donation box. Then I took one book.

A simple black cover.

Another year

2019 is over.

It is the 27th of the first month of 2020. I have not posted anything for more than one month. It is a very hard time for a lot of people.

Christmas, New Year, Lunar New Year. Wish you all the best.

I will try my best to catch up and put up a more personal life here. As the family worries about privacy. So I can only do my best.

Here is our dinner on Chinese New Year Eve.

Rosary Miracle Story

Vienna, Austria, September 12, 1955: After World War II, Austria was divided between four countries: America, France, the United Kingdom, and Russia, which was still communist. The section of Austria controlled by the communists was the richest and included the city of Vienna. The Viennese were subject to all the atrocities and tyrannies of communism.

With all of his country’s problems weighing heavily on his heart, Capuchin Fr. Petrus Pavlicek made a pilgrimage to Mariazell, the principle Marian shrine in Austria. While deep in prayer before the miraculous image of Our Lady above the shrine’s high altar, he was told by an interior voice: “Do as I say and there will be peace.”

To obey this inspiration of Our Lady, Fr. Pavlicek founded the Holy Rosary Crusade of Reparation in 1947. This Crusade consisted of the Viennese faithful coming out of their homes in order to participate in a public Rosary procession in the streets of the city. The intentions of the Rosary were for the end of communism in their country and in the world. Father traveled throughout Austria with a statue of Our Lady of Fatima promoting the Rosary Crusade. At first, the processions were miniscule, but in time they grew to staggering proportions. The Prime Minister and other members of the Austrian government soon joined the ranks, along with all of the nation’s bishops.

In 1955, after eight years spreading the word about the Crusade throughout Austria, the Rosary processions would reach the size of half a million people, about one-tenth of the Austrian population. Finally,m through the help of Our Lady, the Soviet forces pulled out of Austria in October of 1955, leaving the country for good.

Each year on September 12th, the feast of the Holy Name of Mary, thousands gather in Vienna to thank the Mother of God for her intercession in freeing their country from communist domination.

BC Driver’s Licence and Services Card

My old driver’s licence is broken, because of too many cards in my wallet.

So, I went to ICBC office, and tried to get a replacement. The staff told me if I want, I can replace it with my MSP card and get a new card, which is combin two cards in one. Of couse, I accept this offer, since the fee is same. It is $17.

I took the photo, and got a piece of paper, or temporar driver licence. The new card was mailed in two weeks.

All existing BC MSP health care card will be replaced by BC Services Card by 2018 at a driver licensing office. You can do it early, when you renew or replace your current driver licence.

How it looks like:

You can also wait for the letter of renew from ICBC.

What if I don’t apply?

CareCards and Gold CareCards can continue to be used to access health services until 2018. After 2018, failure to renew enrolment in MSP may result in cancellation of MSP coverage. This means you might have to pay for medical services like a visit to your doctor. In emergency situations, no one will be denied essential medical services.

Important Notice from KFI about Butter Chicken Sauce

I received a letter from KFI, Kataria Foods International.

Costco Wholesale records indicate you may have purchased KFI Butter Chicken Sauce produced by Kataria Foods Inc., between January 2 and June 11, 2015.

It recently came to our attention that the net volume of the product as shown on the label does not accurately reflect the declared volume of product in the jar. The over-declared volume amounted to an overcharge of $0.68 on this product. We are very sorry for this error.

We have taken this issue very seriously and have worked with Costco to correct the problem.

We have also taken measures to ensure future compliance on declared volumens.

Again, we apologize for this error and, as a gesture of our appreciation, we have included a voucher for a free hot dog and soda pop (value of $1.50), which can be redeemed at the food court at your local Costco warehouse. If you prefer, you may return the product to a Costco warehouse for a full refund.

This is the letter form KFI.
