Windows Updates does not work

| No Comments

I have a Widnwos XP pc has the update problem as below:

When attempting to run Windows Update the following message appears: 'Error number: 0x8DDD0018.' This message states that the Automatic Updates, BITS, and Event Log services must be started, but they are all started and WinUpdates still fails.

First I know, this pc has kind of virus or spyware. I clean them and make it looks OK. But still can not update.

Later I find the post and the solution.

run command from command window.

regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll

After it, enable the service above and run windows update. Works.

It is shared hosting account.

Some php program ask for register_globals to be turned off.
The default is on. How can I turn off it?

I can not touch php.ini. So go for .htaccess.

Just add one into it.

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

1and1 php5 engine set register_globals off by default.

I bought a D-LINK DGS-1008D 8 Port 10/100/1000 Unmanaged Gigabit Switch at NCIX online. Pick up at burnaby store.

It save power and performance good.

* Green Ethernet Technology
* 16Gbps Switching Capacity
* Desktop or Wall-Mount Design
* Non-blocking Architecture

Power Savings by Number of Connected Ports and Link Status
Power Savings by Cable Length
Overall Power Savings Per Day

This one is actually replace the one I use has 4 ports only. Now it is 8 ports and also get the speed increased.

If you come my Blog often, you may fell the site is loaded faster than before. Yes. You are right. I implement CDN to improve my blog performance.

A content delivery network or content distribution network (CDN) is a system of computers containing copies of data, placed at various points in a network so as to maximize bandwidth for access to the data from clients throughout the network. A client accesses a copy of the data near to the client, as opposed to all clients accessing the same central server, so as to avoid bottleneck near that server.

Put CSS, js files and images to CDN is a good choice to save bandwidth of blog hosting. The key is cost of CDN is cheaper than web hosting.

It did keep site visitors happy. Get better browser experience from any spot of the World.

I purchased MaxCDN. $10 for 1000GB. I can not find any other CDN provider can beat this price.
