If you just want to install a Desktop, the LiveCD is good enough.
If you want to install a server, you need the bin DVD iso.
Only bin iso will give you the chance to choose the type of installation.

You can choose Desktop, Minimal Desktop, Minimal, Basic Server, Database Server, Web Server, Virtual Host, or Software Development Workstation.
I choose the default Web Server installation. There are 685 packages.
