No need to covert the VDI file to RAW format. Just copy the vdi file into the local folder. For me, I will just put it at /root/testing.vdi
Step 2, Create a new VM in Proxmox
On the “OS” tab, choose “Do not use any media”
On the “Hard Disk” tab, choose “local-lvm”, as storage, Disk size is any size you want, for example, 8GB. Format, choose “Raw disk image (raw)”, On CPU and Memory, choose the same as the Virtualbox settings.
Confirm to create the new VM.
Step 3, Detach and Remove the Hard Disk
Say my VM ID is 109, choose Virtual Machine 109, Hardware, Hard Disk, choose “Detach” button.
At this point, the hard disk will be listed as “Unused Disk.” It still exists but is not attached to the system. To destroy it completely, select the Unused Disk and click Remove again; and confirm when prompted.
To transfer the the large mySQL database, you need to learn how to use command to do it.
Large, means the database is bigger than 8 MB after compressing.
phpmyadmin, is a wonderful web tool for mySQL. But the limitation of upload is 8 MB. If the backup file is larger than it, you can not upload it, of course can not import it.
The platform I am working is Linux, Centos. It is ssh command environment.
1) Backup, export all tables of one database into one file.
I use this command to backup my forum database. The result is gzip file, means after compressing. I have a database is above 500MB. The gz file is about 125MB.
When I have the gz file, I can download it to my PC, or put it on other server for transferring.

After installed the Gallery 3, it is an empty photo gallery. So I need to import all my existing albums into it.
Firstly, enabled the Gallery 2 import module.
