AS SSD Benchmark Test on Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD

I did a little bit test on my new SamsungĀ  970 EVO PlusĀ  NVMe 250GB SSD.

After I installed the new Samsung SSD and migrate the system disk to it. The default NVMe driver is Windows 10 builtin driver.

Microsoft Standard NVM Express Controller

Driver version: 10.0.18362.1

Driver date: 6/21/2006

Standard NVM Express Controller

It can be confirmed on the Samsung Magician software. Under NVMe Driver, it shows Microsoft.

Samsung Magician

The test result based on AS SSD Benchmark 1.8.5636.37293.

Stornvme driver Score on AS SSD Benchmark 1.8

The score is 3178.

Later I found AS SSD Benchmark has a new version. V2.0.6812.41776.

Then I run the test on the new AS SSD Benchmark software.

What is exFAT

Saw a new type of disk format, exFAT. I am only knowing FAT, FAT32, NTFS, and some others for Linux operation system.

Today, when I try to format a microSD card, it has a new option, exFAT.

exfat-format

What is exFAT?

File size limit is now 16 exabytes.
Format size limits and files per directory limits are practically eliminated.
Like HPFS, exFAT uses free space bitmaps to reduce fragmentation and free space allocation/detection issues.
Like HTFS, permission systems should be able to be attached through an access control list (ACL). It is unclear if or when Vista will include this feature, however.

Interestingly enough, exFAT is not used and was not designed for formatting hard drives. It is only recommended in flash memory storage and other external devices only. This is why it is currently not considered a huge competitor to NTFS on hard drives.

For me, I know that flash drive capacity is getting bigger and bigger. And also the file size, I mean the video file size is also getting bigger and bigger.

FAT32 has a limitation of 4GB file size limit.

NTFS and exFAt can store a single file with 5Gb or evern more.

Go back to Amazon AWS CloudFront

I start to use CDN from April 2010, with MaxCDN. Later, I moved to Amazon, FrontCloud in August, 2010.
For some reason, I move back to MaxCDN. I start to use MaxCDN again from June 2012. In April 2013, I started to use CDN77.
A few days ago, in March 2014, I go back to Amazon AWS CloudFront. It is a reliable CDN service provider. The price is pay as you go. Based on my network volume, I prefer this price structure.

I setup CloudFront with custom origin server. Add CNAME on it. One of the CDN rules is to use two CDN host name, not one, not three. Two is the perfect number and best performance.

I tested my new CloudFront CDN ping value through CA ping tool. There are over 30 monitoring stations worldwide. My testing result is:

  • AWS CloudFront CDN,

Average: 48.29
Median: 3.05

  • CDN77 CDN

Average: 51.69
Median: 20.15

It shows that CloudFront has better ping value.
