Lets talk about some benefits for HOME user from Avast! 4 Home Edition.
Standard resident protection
The included resident module can protect your file system and email.
1) File system protection ensures that no virus will be started on the computer.
2) E-mail/News protection consists of two independent modules; first, a generic scanner working on the SMTP/POP3/IMAP4/NNTP protocol level. Second, a special plugin for MS Outlook only; the mail scanning is completely transparent, requiring no special settings.

A lot of HOME users have one or two P2P client software and more than three IM client.
There are so much risk to get the files from unknown sources.
Avast features a module for the protection of IM (Instant Messaging, “chat”) programs, and a module for the protection of P2P (peer-to-peer) programs.

  1. I am using Avast from the last two years and my laptop is really risk free. avast has a lot more good features so i love using it. But i think very less people using it. Even all my friends are using some others like AVG and Norton. They are also good reporting. I like reading this post as this is really interesting.

  3. I have tried 3 other free antivirus programs, andt this is the only one that has worked flawlessly and efficiently without causing my system to run slower than a mud turtle with a double hernia.

  4. Avast is one of the very few really antivirus programs that offer real-time protection for home PC security. Czech guys did a great job! AVG and Avira seem to be the only competitors. Finding a full-featured free antivirus is tough these days, most of the so-called “free” programs are either time-limited trials, or simply on-demand scanners without real-time monitoring. To my mind, avast! has the best interface of all free AV’s available for personal PC security.
