My Kindle Paperwhite 7th Generation
was upgraded to 18.104.22.168 early this year. Late, I upgrade the firmware to 5.11.2. Now it is another upgrade available online.
Check the version before upgrading.
Firmware 5.11.2 What’s new
I touched the settings and settings again, to check the upgrade availability.
Yesterday night, when I open the cover of my Kindle paperwhite, it displayed the updating screen.
So it is automatically update. We call it OTA update, or over-the-air update.
Now it is version 22.214.171.124. I remembered I did a
manual update last Augest. After that update, it was 5.9.7.
On my Kindle, the What’s New page shown two release version, 5.10.3 and 126.96.36.199.

There is a new, free software update available for your Kindle Paperwhite (7th Generation). This update automatically downloads and installs on your Kindle Paperwhite when connected wirelessly; however, you can also manually download the software and transfer the update to your device via USB cable.
Of course, I always download the firmware from the official site and transfer the bin file of the new firmware to the root of the Kindle Paperwhite 7th generation.
Before the upgrade, the current version of my Kindle is v220.127.116.11
Software Update 5.9.7
The firmware is update_kindle_all_new_paperwhite_5.9.7.bin . File size is 210M.

Amazon has a new firmware for Kindle Paperwhite.
Prepare firmware file
So, I check the Amazon’s website and download the latest firmware file.
The file name is update_kindle_all_new_paperwhite_5.9.5.bin,216MB
Then, connect the Kindle to my desktop with USB cable. Copy the bin file into the root folder of the Kindle. Eject the Kindle and unplug the USB.
Install the firmware

Touch Update your Kindle
