Recently, I tested the HE.net Tunnel Broker and Route48.org. Both of them provide free IPv6 tunnel services.

I focused on the latency of the network.

Background:

The router is opnSense soft router.

I have a 100Mbps/10Mbps Internet cable connection.

First is He.net Tunnel Broker.

The Tunnel server is located in Fremont, CA, US.

Ping he.net

  • IPv4    Min 29ms/ Max 35ms/ Avg 31ms
  • IPv6    Min 32ms/ Max 37ms/ Avg 33ms

Ping Google.com

  • IPv4    Min 12ms/ Max 15ms/ Avg 14ms
  • IPv6    Min 52ms/ Max 53ms/ Avg 52ms

Ping a website behind Cloudflare

  • IPv4    Min 9ms/ Max 12ms/ Avg 10ms
  • IPv6    Min 32ms/ Max 43ms/ Avg 36ms

Second is Route48.org Wireguard IPv6 Tunnel

The Tunnel server is located in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I am in Vancouver.

Ping he.net

  • IPv4    Min 29ms/ Max 31ms/ Avg 30ms
  • IPv6    Min 34ms/ Max 38ms/ Avg 35ms

Ping Google.com

  • IPv4    Min 13ms/ Max 15ms/ Avg 13ms
  • IPv6    Min 17ms/ Max 20ms/ Avg 17ms

Ping a website behind Cloudflare

  • IPv4    Min 13ms/ Max 17ms/ Avg 14ms
  • IPv6    Min 14ms/ Max 14ms/ Avg 14ms

I did one more time here.

Consulation.

Route48.org has more server locations. If you can choose the server close to your location, you will get better performance on latency.
