Joomla 3 is coming

The Joomla! Project is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Joomla 3.0.0. This is the next major release of the Joomla CMS in the Standard Term Support (STS) track. All 3.0 users will need to plan to update to the new versions available in the STS release cycle every six months until version 3.5 is released. These updates are expected to be simple and backwards compatible.
What are the new features of Joomla! 3?

  • Incorporation of Twitter Bootstrap into a jui media package.
  • A new responsive, mobile device friendly administrator template–Isis– and interface.
  • A new front end template–Protostar– built using Twitter Bootstrap.
  • Updated accessible template called Beez3.
  • A simplified 3-step installation process.
  • PostgreSQL Driver. You will be able to run Joomla 3.0 sites using the PostgreSQL database.
  • PHP Memcached Driver
  • Use of JFeed for feed management rather than SimplePie
  • Installation of language packages directly from the extension manager
  • Guest user group present by default
  • Saving blank articles allowed
  • New administrator statistics module
  • Update TinyMCE to version 3.5.6
  • Continued clean up of older unused code, files and database fields and tables and improved standardization of tables.
  • Improvements to Smart Search
  • Extensive work on code style standardisation and consistency
  • Unit testing in the CMS
  • Updated system tests in the CMS
  • Custom active menu item for menu module
  • Let the SEF plug-in add the canonical url to the head
  • Version 12.2 of the Joomla Platform

This release also includes the current version (12.2) of the Joomla! Platform, which includes a large number of new and improved packages.

If you just want to install a Desktop, the LiveCD is good enough.
If you want to install a server, you need the bin DVD iso.
Only bin iso will give you the chance to choose the type of installation.

Firefox 11.0 release

Firefox 11.0 released on March 13, 2012.
There are three new features:

  • Firefox can now migrate your bookmarks, history, and cookies from Google Chrome
  • With Sync enabled, add-ons can now be synchronized across your computers
  • The CSS text-size-adjust property is now supported

One Change

  • Redesigned media controls for HTML5 video

Two HTML5 related update

  • The outerHTML property is now supported on HTML elements
  • View source syntax highlighting now uses the HTML5 parser (see bug 482921)

FileZilla 3.5.3 release

FileZilla, one of the best FTP client software. I use it for many years. It is free software. Easy to use and navigate.
3.5.3 (2012-01-08)
New features:
Ctrl+Shift+O can be used to toggle between modification time and filesize based directory comparison
Bugfixes and minor changes:
It is now possible to use custom passwords if using “anonymous” as user name
After un-hiding toolbar, update toolbar button states
Fix TLS compatibility issues with TLS 1.2 servers
MSW: Unset hidden attribute on FileZilla’s settings files
Building FileZilla from source now requires wxWidgets 2.8.12 or higher.

TELUS LG Shine Plus got Android 2.3.3 upgrade finaly

Almost one year past. LG Shine Plus get it latest upgrade OS.
When I bought it in March 2011, it shipped with Android 2.1.
New OS brings some features I like.
1) App2SD works.
2) GUI looks more beautiful, and fonts are clear.
Because I do not jailbreak the phone, so App2SD is more important to me than others.
By move some data or programs to SD, I can install more Apps to it.

Download speed comparison Globally

There is a picture present the global download speed comparison, which is sourcing from Akamai.
First of all, I would like you to test your own Internet speed first. It is including Download speed, Upload speed, and Ping time.
I recommend the speed testing service of Speedtest.net.
Just a few minutes ago, I tested my Internet download speed in office. It is connected by Telus.
The result is following:
Download: 2.54Mb/s
Upload: 0.69Mb/s
Ping: 25ms
Testing between, Telus Internet user and Lynnwood, WA server.
Now I have my own current speed testing result. Let us see how about the rest of the world.
