PHP 5.5 vs PHP 5.4 vs PHP 5.3 – phpBB 3

It is a test on a virtual box Centos 6.4 installation. One forum, powered by phpBB 3.0.11.
I would like to know the time to generate the page.
The time I got is through Firebug on Firefox.
On Firefox 23.0.1, Firebug 1.12.0, Net Panel > All
The waiting time 476ms is the time waiting for the response from web server.
From my point of view it is the time including generate the html.

Day 6 – Two Week Campaign

To make the site clean and faster loading, I remove one piece advertising script.
The ads removed is provided by Kontera, I used it for many years. It is a content link ads. It mimics text link. When mouse move over it, a small float layer display a small box with ads. About five to ten Kontera links are added on each of my post. Now I took it away. The page looks less links on it.
The second change I made is to move Google Ads from the middle center of the post content to the right up inline of the post. Personally, I feel better look. And more content will be shown above the fold.
After the above two changes, the Fully Loaded time is reduced about 25% on first view.

Make the webpage faster

During past few months, I feel my blog is loaded slower and slower. Especially when I compared it with the past.
At yesterday night and this morning, I did some fine tuning of my blog. To make the webpage loading faster and also make my blog reader happy.
1) Remove the Google Plus button which is previous showing on the menu.
Every single page of article has its own Google Plus button. So remove this sitewide one.
2) Add width and height of every images of the template.
The improvement is big.
I use the previous post as an example.
Before changes:
First View Load Time is 9.619s, First Byte 0.465s, Start Render 3.368s.
Now:
First View Load Time is 6.099s, First Byte 0.421s, Start Render 0.777s.

Add Google Analytics new features

I use Google Analytics to track this blog for many years. It did help me to understand much more of the readers.
Now Google Analytics has some new features released. The first thing I would like to add on my blog is Site Speed track.
The way to add it into the existing tracking code is just add following line:

_gaq.push([‘_trackPageLoadTime’]);

Why Google implement this new feature?
My answer is Site speed / page load speed.
It is more important than before in the factors of Search Engine Optimization.
Google treat site speed as one of the most important factors of 100+ factors.

Opera Upgrade to 11.0

The Version of Opera Browser is 11.00. Build 1156. Just upgrade to it few minutes ago.
I feel Opera is one of the fastest Internet browser, if it is not the fastest.
It has following new features:
Tab stacking
Dragging one tab over another allows you to create groups of tabs. Now you can keep dozens of webpages open, organized and under control.
Safer address field
The address field has been improved and now hides the complexity of long web addresses. It also provides more security information to help you stay safe when browsing; just click the badge for the website to see security information about the site you are visiting.
