Fitbit syncing support more devices now

I use Fitbit almost one year. I need a USB device to synchronize data it collect. The USB device should work with PC and its program, Fitbit connect.

Now Fitbit syncing support more devices.

Including iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 4s, iPod Touch 5, iPad Mini, etc.

Most important news for me is that it is supporting Nexus 7 (2013) now.

It means I don’t have to turn on my PC and sit beside it to wait the data synchronizing.  I can play my favorite games,Jewel Mania, Fragger, Candy Crush, or Angry Birds, the data syncing is done without further action.

phpBB3 Email settings with Gmail or Google Apps

I did a post one year ago for PHPBB2 and Gmail. Now I have a PHPBB 3.0.4.
How to config phpBB 3 forum board to make its email setting working with Gmail or Google Apps?
The old way does not work. How can I do?
I find a way to use Gmail smtp facility to send out email.

1) Have the Gmail or Goolge Apps’s email account works.
2) Using the menu at the top right edge of the main Gmail window (the one that shows up after you log in), click on Settings, and then Forwarding and POP / IMAP. Under POP Download, click either Enable POP for all Mail, or Enable POP for Mail that Arrives Now (which ever suits your purpose). Configure anything else that appeals to you too. Exit from the Gmail Settings Window after saving your selections (this is important).

Google partnered with Dreamhost

When I add a new domain on the control panel of Dreamhost, Google’s logo catch my eyeball.
Now users can Set up calendar.domain.com, docs.domain.com, sites.domain.com, and start.domain.com, free with Google.
And use Gmail as email provider.
And the last is Google Page Creator for hosting. All free.

If you want better email service, not he simple web mail interface, I suggested you use Gmail. It is part of Google Apps services. Google Page Creator is good for new site owner without HTML knowledge. It is easy to use and similar to word processor.

phpBB Email settings with Gmail

I run a BBS, which is phpBB. I also use the Google Apps’ email service. How to make them work together?
Let’s discuss it now.
Version of phpBB2: 2.0.22
It is running on the Dreamhost‘s hosting.
There is a email setting under General Admin > Configuration
Say, I want to use a Gmail account as the BBS system email account. The Google Apps’s email is same as Gmail setting.
Let’s put the details here.
3) Login the phpBB administrator panel.
Goto General Admin > Configuration > Email Settings

SMTP Server Address:ssl://smtp.gmail.com:465
SMTP Username: enter your email address
SMTP Password: enter the password of your email account.

After that, the email setting is fine on your phpBB system. Any emails through the system email account will be OK. I enable account activation, which requires new users verify his email address.

Add SPF record for Google Apps for your Domain

I mentioned before, I use Google Apps for your domain as one email service of my sites.
Email service switch is very smooth.
And user interface is same as Gmail, friendly.
One issue found. I send an email to an email address ended by 163.com.
The Delivery Status Notification (Failure) message said:
Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 8): 550 MI:SPF mx20,wKjR5bDbf6h9JaNFxfU9DA==.29331S5 1168320069 http://mail.163.com/help/help_spam_16.htm
The error code is 550 MI:SPF
That means the IP address of sender is not included in sender’s Domain list.
To check the SPF record, go here.
I checked Google help, the answer is here.
How do I set my SPF records?

Sender Policy Framework (SPF) records allow domain owners to specify which hosts are permitted to send email on behalf of their domains, making it hard to forge From: addresses. We strongly encourage you to publish SPF records for your domain — having these records in place will ultimately help fight spam.
To set your domain’s SPF record, publish the following TXT record on the DNS resource: v=spf1 include:aspmx.googlemail.com ~all.

Some new changes of Blogs

If you read my previous post, you may find the font of the watermark on pictures is changed. I chose Braddon in 2007 as below.

I improve my spam comments control. Any comments without correct security code, will be removed directly.
I applied for Google Apps for Your Domain almost one year ago, but I don’t use it. Now I decided to replace my email server to Gmail included in Google Apps. It is very smooth when I changed my email service.
Some small fine-tune of this Blog will be implemented later.
