It is the second time I have expanded the disk on Proxmox VE. I have a post about how to expand the VM disk in Proxmox VE.
- The host is Proxmox VE v8.1.3.
- The guest is a Gitlab on Ubuntu 22.04.3.
- The Local Disk Space of this VM is 128GB.
- The disk is already 90% full.
I followed the post mentioned above and expanded the disk space to 256GB.
I made a mistake when I resized the hard disk in the Proxmox interface. I did it twice. Made it too big. So I had to delete the VM. Then restored it from the backup that I made before changing anything. After that, I made every step very carefully.
Anyway, it is very important to make a backup. That is what I want to say to me, myself and I.
Right now, I just want to figure out how to make the Gitlab skinny.
The folder /var/opt/gitlab/prometheus/data/wal is more than 85GB.
Let me give some basic information about the Gitlab CE installation.

The last time I expanded the space was in August 2023. In less than four months, the system took 58GB of space. How? Why?
